Like all other advanced Jobs, the FFXI Dragoon is only available after achieving level 30, and completing the Dragoon Quest at the Bostoneau Prison. This is the class of Dragon slayers. As mighty Knights accompanied by their faithful Wyvern, they slay dragons deep down in their layers. While the not-so-picky Final Fantasy XI Dragoons slaughter even those that cross their paths.
They are tough combat opponents with heavy striking abilities. However their real forte is butchering dragons. Their distinctive spear yielding 'jumps' mean that they leap high into the air and come down heavy with remarkable force to slaughter their thick skinned opponents.
Final Fantasy XI Dragoons are great damage dealers, plus skill chain builders. Also, the Wyvern adds a lot to the FFXI Dragoon's specialties. The Wyvern can handle a lot heat for the FFXI Dragoon, depending on the sub job you opt for.
Thin defense is their weakness; they can pass off more damage than they can handle themselves, so no good as tanks.
They are good at forming skill chains. However, their specialty is damage dealing so that's what they should look to do.
The sub job you choose not only affects the FFXI Dragoon's specs, but also defines the role your pet Wyvern plays. If you go for a Warrior, which is a good option, then the wyvern will be attacking. Plus you'll get offense boost, and Berserker and Double attack have always been favorites with bashers.
With a White Mage sub job, the Wyvern would be defensive and healing. So you can choose a sub job according to the style of play you want to enjoy.
Thief as a sub job is also a good option; it adds some diversity to your character as well, making you more in control of the aggro.
Race certainly isn't an issue, until or unless you go for the Taru of course. But really, no other can top Galka for their HP, so trying that wont have you end up mediocre.
| Race/Specs | HP | MP | STR | DEX | VIT | AGI | INT | MND | CHR |
