FFXI Ferry - Final Fantasy XI

In the olden days the ferries relied on the wind to carry them forward, but thanks to the technology of Bastok, now there are the internal combustion engines to power the ferries across the waters.

FFXI Selbina-Mhaura Ferry

The Selbina to Mhaura ferry is in reality a cargo ship. Consequently, there isn't much to cheer about in terms of comfort on the ship. There is a single shop that provides the bare minimum stuff that you can make do with. The ferries actually make three trips a day in groups of three vessels between Selbina and Mhaura, crossing the dangerous Bastore Sea.

How to Get a Ride

It is a good enough ride for those looking for a quick journey across to the other continent. For a fee of a 100 Gil, it is not likely to bust your purse. So buy a ticket and wait for the ferry to arrive, and then set sail. Remember, the ferry has specific timings so following those will get you onboard easily, instead of having to wait for the next trip.

The Adventure and the Scare!

Riding a ferry is a great experience on the whole. You actually spend the time on the ferry instead of jumping from one screen to another, just the scenery is awesome.

FFXI Ferries are Dangerous!

Once you get the hang of the scenery, pay attention. The ferry ride is great for the brave at heart adventurers. However, those who are not looking to fight pirates, sea monks and the horribly horrible 'FFXI Sea Horror', should stay away from the sea journeys until they are mature high level players. Or you could always get a good escort to come along, or better still, you could hide! Yeah you heard me right. Hide is the word. Don't go on the deck. Stay away from fishing. Never fish on the ferry until or unless you want trouble. Even if you venture on the deck scram as soon as there is a change in the music, it's the pirates coming. The Sea Monk isn't too polite either, so stay out of its way and hide well because it opens doors as well. The Sea Horror you'd recognize when you see it, its huge, its powerful, and is full of fury. It can deal as much as 2 to 3 hundred HP damage in one hit, so if you want a picture of it, take it from under a bed somewhere!
